Reports to: Senior Vice President Pharmaceutical R&D and Operations
Duties and Responsibilities:
This position will be responsible for the leadership of the Analytical Development department and will directly support multiple preclinical and clinical programs. Selecta has a Synthetic Vaccine Particle (SVP™) technology that utilizes synthetic nanoparticles to elicit the desired and optimal immune response. The SVPs are biodegradable polymer based nanoparticles with multiple active components that are required for a strong and robust immune response. Selecta works with a wide range of adjuvants and antigens including proteins, peptides, small molecules, nucleic acids and oligosaccharides and analytical support for all of these types of compounds are required. This will include the creation of the methods, application for R&D purposes and development to a stage suitable for pre-clinical testing as well as cGMP method development and execution to support from Phase 1 clinical trials through commercialization in addition to the management of product stability programs. Knowledge and experience in cGMP analytical work is required. The successful candidate will set goals, plan and execute a wide range of analytical methods and sample preparations for complex polymeric particles containing one or more active entities to support Selecta's discovery and product development activities by building and leading a highly functional and talented team. The successful candidate will also be able to work with people with diverse backgrounds and abilities for the purpose of solving complex chemical and biological problems for the development of products. Excellent written and oral communication skills are required as is the demonstrated ability to lead cross functional teams.
Education and Requirements:
Ph.D. in Chemistry or related discipline with a minimum of 10 years experience in pharmaceutical analytical development. Experience with polymeric particulate systems a plus. Additional requirements include:
