Job Opening - Russia

Director – Biology/Immunobiology

Location:  Moscow, Russia

Reports to:  Vice President R&D

Duties and Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will contribute leadership, technical expertise and intellectual creativity towards the development of targeted particle-based immunomodulatory agents, and will be proficient in both in vitro and in vivo techniques to measure and modify adaptive immune responses. As an early member of the Selecta Russia team, this individual will have the opportunity to play a central role in establishing our company's immunobiological capabilities, and will provide development support for internal projects and external collaborations. Because the company's therapeutic strategy integrates polymer chemistry, particle delivery technology and a number of immunological modalities, the candidate will be facile at collaborating across multiple technical disciplines.  Specific skill sets required include:

  • In vivo assays to induce and/or modulate antigen-specific cellular and humoral immune responses in mammals
  • In vitro assays that measure antigen-specific cellular and humoral immunity
  • Bacterial and viral infectious disease models and/or cancer models
  • Development of immunological-based assays (i.e. ELISAs, EliSPOT, multi-color flow cytometry, Immunohistochemistry, fluorescence microscopy)
  • In vitro cell binding and pharmacological assays
  • Basic molecular biology knowledge
  • Experience with biotherapeutics, such as monoclonal antibodies

Transfer of knowhow from Selecta Biosciences (Boston, MA, USA) as well independent development at Selecta Russia will be part of the position. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated team player with a commitment to quality, and attention to detail, strong problem solving skills, excellent verbal, and written communication skills in English and Russian as well as the ability to work productively with minimal supervision. Travel to the United States for training and other research related functions at Selecta's USA facilities will also be part of the role.

Education Requirements: Ph.D. in immunology, immunobiology, microbiology or vaccinology

Experience: Substantial hands-on experience in immunology, molecular biology, cell biology, and/or biochemistry with post-doctoral training and 8 years of industry experience in a biotechnology or pharmaceutical company setting.  Experience in filing regulatory applications is desirable.
